Stars
Sophie Nock
The stars in silence singing to the moon,
Which winks and sparkles back at them,
Receding from the sky.
Ethereal light in the midst of blue,
A cold, dark night with hope shining through,
As the bright stars glow.
Like lanterns in a dark, dark room;
Or a silver glint in a pile of lead,
They lead us to the truth.
We know that they’re just balls of burning gas,
Explained to us by science alone:
But still, we dream.
