Get Writing: ideas, inspiration and resources for young writers

Get Creative! story ideas on YouTube

There is a whole week’s worth of summer writing challenges for young people here.

Devised and explained by poet Liz Berry and designed to be completed at your own speed, you can do as much or as little as you like.

Take a tour around your own world, or create poems from cut up newspapers or magazines. You can even tune in to your favourite music and write along with the band.

Use the prompts as directed, or take them on a merry-go-round of your own invention. Enjoy!

Submit to the next issue of Spark Young Writers Magazine

We’re open for submissions of creative writing from writers aged 8-20 from the West Midlands.

There are two submission windows each year – April and November. For information about how to submit and the deadlines, click here.
